Tshangana Attorneys Inc. ("the firm", "we") respects your privacy. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This notice explains what we collect through this website, why we collect it, and your rights.
1. Who we are
The responsible party is Tshangana Attorneys Inc. (Reg. No. 2016/304096/21), Unit 2, 15 Kennington Road, Nahoon, East London 5200.

2. What we collect
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), subject and message.
- Consultation bookings: your full name, email address, cell number, consultation type, chosen attorney, date and time, whether you are a new or existing client, a short description of your matter, and your proof of payment (which may show banking details).
- Technical information: a session cookie that keeps the forms secure, and a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your IP address, kept for a short time to block spam. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs.
Please do not send special personal information (for example health information) or sensitive details of your matter through the website. We will ask for what we need during the consultation.
3. Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, and to arrange, confirm, reschedule and remind you of your consultation.
- To verify your payment and keep proper financial records.
- To check for conflicts of interest before we accept instructions.
- To protect the website against spam, fraud and abuse.
- To meet our legal and professional obligations.
We rely on your consent (given when you submit a form), on steps you ask us to take before a mandate is signed, on our legal obligations, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. Only staff who need it can access it. The website, its booking records and uploaded documents are hosted by Afrihost on servers in South Africa. Our service providers are bound to keep your information confidential and secure.
Our contact page shows an embedded Google Map. When it loads, Google may receive technical information from your browser, as described in Google's privacy policy. This may involve processing outside South Africa.
5. How long we keep it
- Website enquiries that do not lead to a consultation: deleted within 12 months.
- Booking records and proofs of payment: kept for at least 5 years, as required by tax, accounting and legal-practice record-keeping rules.
- Client files, if you instruct us: kept for the periods required by law and the rules of the Legal Practice Council.
When information is no longer needed, we delete or destroy it securely.
6. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information. Uploaded proofs of payment are stored in a private location that is not publicly accessible. The administration area is password-protected, and the website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). No system is completely secure, so please tell us if you suspect any misuse.
7. Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us:
- whether we hold your personal information, and for access to it;
- to correct or delete it;
- to stop processing it (object).
You may also withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect processing that has already taken place. Please email our Information Officer at vuyo@tshangattorney.co.za.
You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
8. Cookies
This website uses only one strictly necessary session cookie, to keep forms secure. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
9. PAIA manual
Our manual in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 is available on request from the Information Officer.
10. Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. The current version is always published on this page.
